Biggest shot with a TNT ring?
I`m getting a iron 408 installed as we speak. Will have ETP 245`s with fast 90/90 and kooks 1 7/8 headers. I`m running a TNT F2 kit. I planned on a 200 shot, but can I go bigger and be safe with the TNT ring? Tell me you thoughts fellas. It`s going in the car in my sig. You can see I have all the bolt-on`s and then some. Fuel system is in-line T-Rex, 255 in-tank walbro and 42lb inj. Fast fuel rails also. Let me know fellas! Car will be running in 2 weeks!!!!!
Also, I`m thinking of using a Progressive Controller to help with the hit. I know my 408 is going to put the power out down low. Just want to hook off the line and maybe help the tranny live alittle longer! What would be the best for the money?

Dave's fixing to crazy! I like it.
I wouldnt go bigger than a 200 without going directport...Man, a 200 shot on a 408 will likely make around 750rwhp anyway!
As for progressive controllers Id go with the FJO...and I think it would be a good idea to go progressive, it would also help with traction.

I am no expert but from what i have heard 200 is about as much as you want to spray not direct port i mean im sure you would be fine a little bigger like 225 250 but i wouldent want to risk blowing my new 90mm fast intake off my new 408 motor. If 200 shot on a 408 really isnt enogh power for you your a crazyer man than I.

just give the TNT 200 shot a go for a while. That with the 408 should rpvide plenty of power. Im not sure what your goals are though.
ANother thing that has been done with great succes is running a small dry shot along with the TNT 200 shot. Of course you need enough fuel for all this and injectors that are big enough to support the HP the 408 is putting down + the dry shot HP. But its just an option.
I always say 200 is the limit of a wet kit down the intake. If it really is or not I dont know. Its one of those things...whos gonna fine the limit....lol. The limit for a FAST 90/90 with a 408 is probably higher than a 346 with an LS1 intake.
To be honest..I think with a 408 and a FAST 90/90 a 250 shot could probably be done...especially if you use a progressive controller like the FJO stuff. Monitor the plugs closely to check for uneven ditribution. But using a progressive limits the flow of juice in the lower and mid rpms ranges...thats the area you may run into problems with backfire.
Thats my opinion and im sticking to it.

beardWS6...nice set-up man. I run a turbo now but had a TNT wet on the Camaro, 150 was the highest I went. I also had a 250 horse plate on my big block, with a 300 horse unit through a fogger on top of the plate on my big block also. Over the last 10 years I have filled a lot of bottles I have burnt and sucked up valves and damaged a few plugs, however nothing catastrophic though. I always played it safe even when spraying 300 at once through my big block against an opponent on the street.
The problem is, you set up a new motor and spend a ton of money on the setup and spray the **** out of it. Then if something goes wrong you damage parts. Usually after you damage something I always said...I should have done it right. I would take care of those new ETP heads and that nice set-up you have. If you want to spray the poo out of it then fogger it or do like Al said and stage a dry wet combo...
I always try to remember that driving it is a lot more fun then fixing it ...well you guys know what I mean
Just my two cents...thanks for the moment on the soap box

Sounds like a 200 shot is what it is! Your right, I drive the car on the street the most. If 530rwhp N/A and probably 700-750 isn`t enough. I`m in trouble. I will take to the track every once in awhile to play. I will have major traction issues anyway I would rather be safe, than sorry!! thanks fellas!!!

David, a 200 shot would be the max I would recommend through a dual nozzle kit. That's quite a bit of fuel to be putting into an EFI style plenum. Anything more and a direct-port would be in order. You'll be supprised at how hard the car will run with a 200 shot.

Dan, when MTI put my 90/90 set-up on they honed the TNT ring out to a 90mm. I thought of that right off the bat. Thanks!
Ben, sounds like the best idea. Maybe once I get the money for a tranny I will do the directport!! How is the shop coming today? Ready to pull the motor
