T56 Issues
Tried to search but couldn't find anything that addressed this.
I have a '99 T56 behind a '98 LS1 in a '77 Datsun 280Z. It's done me well for 13 years but I'm starting to get some strange behavior. When the tranny is really cold - less than 40 degrees outside and just started - it will squall loudly shifting from 1st to 2nd. The other thing it will do sometimes when I've been pushing it hard up and down - like on a hillclimb - it will occasionally just lock up in the neutral gate and does not want to go into any gear. It will eventually go in, sometimes with some gear grinding, and then behave pretty normally for a while. Anyone with any ideas? Tranny issue or possibly a clutch issue? I have a stock GM clutch.

Contact Ellis at Speed Secrets in Monroe. I don't know if he still visits the forums but his forum name is 2Fast4Lv. He's the transmission master with many moons of experience.

I don't really do them much anymore. I just don't have the time and there for awhile it was next to impossible to get replacement parts because Tremec slowed production on T56. Nothing worse than having to make a customer wait because I can't find replacement parts..... I think there are some vendors having Chinese produced parts now but I wasn't ready to take that bullet lol...
