Default L98 Stroker short block for sale

I'm thinking about selling my 383 shortblock assembly consisting of the following-

L98 roller block bored .030 over, with billet splayed main caps and ARP main studs (paid $200 for the used block, $130 for the new main caps, and $50 for the new studs)

383 cu in rotating assembly-

Wiseco dished pistons- 4.030 bore, 1.120 compression height, 0.927 wrist pin, wrist pin length 2.50, floating pins with spirolox, -14cc dish (approx $500 new)

Childs and Albert ZGS (zero gap second ring) rings - ($160 new)

Lunati 4340 Street race I-beam rods- 6 inch ($400 new)

Scat 3.75 inch stroke crank (new $340)

Fluidamper streetdamper harmonic balancer (new $200)

Stock flexplate (approx $60)

The whole rotating assembly was neutral balanced by Bliss. All machine work on the block was done through Bliss, other than the 383 clearancing which was done by me. Final assembly was performed in my garage. The short block is still assembled.

The crank has been turned .010/.010, but the whole assembly has less than 10,000 miles since all the parts were new. Only a few of those miles were hard

The parts total more than $1600.
I've got a receipt for $1025 from Bliss for the block machine work and balancing.

I'm looking for $1600 from a short block that is ready to go and can't be built for less than the numbers I've given above.

If you've got a LT1 and are interested in the rotating assembly only I might be willing to split it all up. I've got a nasty 350 build-up in mind and wouldn't mind reusing my block. The best deal will still be with the complete package.

If I had an engine stand, I would be all over this, cause lord knows that I am going to be needing something along these lines soon after the supercharger install.

Cory, what would the compression be on this with Fastburn heads? The combustion chamber on them is 62cc's.

The pistons are .014 down in the hole with a 14 cc dish on the pistons. I ran 56cc heads and a FelPro 1010 gasket (.039) to yield 10.5 to 1 compression.

Almost any gasket you could run in the .039-.041 range for proper quench would yield 9.9 or so with the fast burns.

Why are you thinking about running such a small chambered head? Unless you have some seriously dished pistons (-20 cc's or so) in your current block you're asking for trouble. Honestly, for a forced induction application I'd expect you to be looking in the 72cc (9.1 comp) up to a 76 cc (8.72 comp) chamber area with a -14cc piston such as mine. Even a 67cc head would be a better choice (9.4 comp)with a larger chamber can alway be decked later for a naturally aspirated combination in the event you decide against the blower in the future.

That's how it goes... money and a good deal are seldom together in the same place.

Like I said... I'm not dying to sell it so maybe I'll still have it at a better time.

I am looking for an aluminum head that will mate up to the Vortec bolt patterned intake that I already have. Options seem to be pretty limited off the shelf. So far it looks like GM Fast Burns, or Edelbrock E-Tec's. With the aluminum, it should be good for one extra compression point over iron, due to the thermal properties. But I was still looking for a setup that will run between 9.0 and 9.5. I will probably just wait for now, and have Sallee build me something to order when my existing engine calls it quits.

For anyone looking at this motor. It is a very good buy for the price. The dish In the piston is perfect for truck's or blowers with the right heads.

I am half temped to Sell my Good Wrench 350 out of the Cab and put it in there

Ditch the vortec set up. If you do toss it out you can run ANY SBC heads and intake. The Vortec stuff is best pimped to a person who wants a little more but still close close to stock. That sure doesn't sound like you with the Blower!

Not factory Vortec, I have a Holley IM that has been set up with the Vortec bolt pattern. (and 55# injectors in the box waiting to be tested) FAST is fun.
