Default Is the Meziere worth it?

Thinking about the Meziere. Is it worht it? Does it really free up 10hp off the crank or are those way overblown numbers?

10 hp is conservitive. Sometimes it's more depending on RPM. The Meziere is the best on the market. Boyce and I used one on his SS in the PE130 (130 mile open road race) and it performed perfectly. I use one on my old school SBC and have never had a problem with it.

What Don said!!
I put one on my Vette in 02 and it works great. You can expect to gain .1 to .2 in the 1/4

I don't know how much it free's up on LS engines but a few guys over at mach 1 registry have used them and they all seem to gain about 11rwhp. I think that is worth it.

The more RPM you turn, the more hp you will free up. I have been running one on the Rustang for years of street driving with zero problems. I made the jump from mechanical fan AND water pump to both electric at the same time. What a difference!

Worked for me. I took off my 1.8 rockers (that gained me >10hp & 1.5/10ths before they fell apart) & put on a Mezierre & stayed the same. The only "bad thing" is they WILL kill your battery of you leave the key on for an hour.

Thx for the input from everyone. Getting one for a good price is the next challenge. Tbyrne has other posts on others boards for 10% off 579.99 is the posted price and free shipping so I call him on Monday and see what he says.

So, what is involved in converting to the electric water pump? I'm looking for a minor project that I can do in an afternoon with just basic tools. Are there any additional parts needed?

Good questions. I'd like to know as well. I need to find some more bolt on projects to add to my hp.

I don't know if it's relevant or not, but I had one on my LT1 and it ran pretty hot during the warmer days of summer. Sitting idling at stoplights on 90+ degree days you could watch the temp creep up. My friend had the same issue on his 92 LT1 Vette so maybe it was just a problem with the LT1 designs? Never had a cooling issue with it, as far as it never went into the red, but it scared the crap out of me a couple times. Car ran much cooler with the stock pump, that is for sure.

That's funny because most of the guys I know said the cars were running 2-4 degrees cooler. Also it is suppose to be much better at idle because that is when a stock mechanical pump is doing the least amount of work while an electric one is still pumping like mad. Maybe it was an LT1 thing but that is a little alarming especially if you race it don't want it really heating up while waiting for your next run in the pits. All the hp you gain by reducing engine drag could go out the window if everything is running hotter.

EDIT: but on the other hand you can turn your engine off in the pits and still keep the water pump and an electic fan going on the radiator to cool things off more than one would with a regual pump.

Mine worked great in 120 degree AZ heat with the A/C pumping.

Mine runs cooler except at sustained speed where it runs about the same as before.

There is something weird about the thermostat install. What was it.....hmmmmm.....goes in the top hose.....I forget now. Ask Tbyrne when you order. And run the fused hot wire to the red post by the fuse boxes under the hood.

I did an immediate before/after while on the chassis dyno and it was worth 8 RWHP/7 RWTQ at peak if I recall correctly.
