Default 1st time to do a quarter panel...1 question

What is the best way to get the part of the quarter off between the door frame and wheel well at the rocker panel? I have emost of the spot welds out ( all the back and wheel well) now I'm to that point and I don't want to screw up the gap between the quarter and the rocker. Thanks for the help. This is on the ss and I just couldn't bring myself to part it out.

The right way is to pull off the rocker panel. Your best bet is to make a cut about 3-5MM above the flange and do a small overlap weld.

I agree with whistler. That way it leaves you some wiggle room to put the new quarter in. Glad to see you didnt just part it out! Good luck with your build

Thanks I just finished removing the donor quarter and tomorrow I will put the new rear and front suspension in the ss and move it to the other garage to start removing the bad one. I pulled and beat it back close to it's original position ( within 1/4" ) so the new one should line up good with a little tweaking. After I get it done I will start the drive train install. What seam sealer should I use after welding it up ? Has anyone used certifit bumpers and fender? Will they look right when done? I hope I can get this done on my own cause funds aren't there for a shop (this was meant to be for parts).

X2 on the seam sealer question. Im also going to need to get my hands on some. I know that there are some types that you cannot use in the inside of the vehicle. Any pics of the progress on your car. Good luck with the repair.

I just did this last month, what I did was get the entire 1/4 loose, then pulled the top out and drilled the spotwelds from the inside of the 1/4.

To reattach the new one after it was all ready, I set my gap, then welded in front of the wheel and the front bottom corner with tacks like the factory did. After this I pulled the top of the 1/4 out again and plug welded from the inside. Took about 15 min total to do and looks just like factory
