Default Silver Metallic (YN) Keeps Coming Out Too Dark

I'm trying to find out what i'm doing wrong. could it be my primer?

first time i used rattle can light grey (almost silver color) primer. then 1 stage nason paint with hardener and thinner in it. mixed just like it was suppose to be. came out too dark.

2nd time, same method. came out too dark.

3rd time..i got tired of wasting my money and bought rattle can Duplicolor perfectMatch and sprayed it as a base coat, then sprayed real clearcoat with my paint gun. came out too dark. i also used a light grey primer/sealer this time. figured maybe the paint was soaking into the primer and the sealer would stop this. wrong.

any advice would be appreciated.

over reduce it by 10% or so, raise your air pressure, and hold gun farther away from panel. usually can lighten up mettallic that way when shooting base/clear. I would get away from single stage on the metallics unless you have plenty of experience.

yea dont use any kind of spray paint and do a base coat clear coat. single stage silver barely ever matches. silver is such a pain i would base and clear and blend into adjoining panels

Is your primer from a rattle can or are you using a urethane primer?
