Default Clear 3m tape on fresh paint?

I just got my bumper and air dam repainted from some damage I had. I am putting everything back together with stainless and using rubber washers so that there is no direct metal on metal (paint on paint) contact like before which caused rust. My issue is that the air dam rubs the bumper all along the edge. I was thinking of putting a strip of 3m tape about an inch wide or so all along this edge to prevent the contact. What do you guys think? I am just worried about the gas not being able to escape from the fresh paint. I have had issues with that before.

thanks,
Mike
