Any pictures? I don't know why GM didn't just brace the rear end and made the quarters plastic like the fenders too.

My quarters are messed up and instead of cutting/welding in a new one is it possible to cut the old away and kinda reinforce it "space" frame style then have new quarters made that are made like the fenders/rest of the car so no more worry of quarter damage/hail/flex/etc?

I would imagine it's reasonable to cut out the quarter, leaving a flange to glue on a composite fender, weld in a flat section (maybe with ribs) to seal up the gaping hole so there is still a solid structure there and then use a urethane to "glue" on a composite copy of the fender to the flange that was earlier left.

I would guess that you would not loose any structural stability with this method... I don't know for sure though.

Bodyman, assuming someone was willing to go through all the extra work would my solution be adequate from a structural standpoint?

I ask mostly out of extremely morbid curiosity.

My quarters aren't that far gone, they are actually repaired already. It just seems like a better alternative because of small hail damage/dents/dings/from others and I want to shave the antenna on the other side so yeah. Idk
