454ci Engine w/ GM Ram Jet Fuel Injection
Equipped with LS3 ECM using EFI Connection's 58x System



The engine is currently running on the test stand. If you are willing to travel to Erie, PA to hear it run, we can make arrangements.

This low mileage engine was removed from a 1999 C6500 Medium Duty Truck with 13,000 miles. The RPO code for this engine is "L21" and the research I have done suggests that the internals are
forged. From http://www.wikipedia.org, "The Vortec 7400 (RPO L21) was a Commercial version of the Chevrolet Big-Block engine used in the Medium Duty truck platform. It shares much from the L29 454, with the
addition of forged pistons and crankshaft." As equipped from GM, the engine is rated near 290 horsepower and 410 lb-ft torque.

The engine has received the following upgrades:
- Brand New Ram Jet Intake Manifold
- EFI Connection's 58x System with Electronic Throttle (more at http://www.eficonnection.com/eficonnection/58x.aspx)

About EFI Connection's 58x System...
Most 2006 and newer LS type engines use a 58 tooth crank reluctor in conjunction with a powerful engine (and transmission) control module. EFI Connection has developed a 58 tooth crank reluctor that allows
the same powerful engine (and transmission) control module on early small-block and big-block Chevy engines. This introduces coil per cylinder ignition, GM transmission support (4L60E, 4L80E, 6L80E, and
6L90E), and the ability to be tuned by any performance shop that tunes newer fuel injected GM vehicles like trucks, Corvette, 2010 Camaro, and so on. This big block can be tuned by any reputable tuning shop
that is familiar with these types of vehicles. More specifically, the popular engine controller used in newer LS engines is the "E38" ECM (shown in image).

What is <u>not included</u> (but shown in the images)
- 90 degree aluminum throttle body elbow (MAF sensor IS included)
- front accessories and pulleys (water pump IS included)
- exhaust manifolds
- test stand and related components

The only known flaw with this engine is that the driver side head has a small crack at one of the accessory bolt holes (see image). The crack does not extend further into the head and a competent welder
could fix or you could swap heads, one side to the other, if the front accessories you intend to use require a bolt in this location.

Sold As-Is...
Other than the flaw mentioned above, I am not aware of any other flaws. The long block has about 13,000 miles of use, the fuel injection manfiold and throttle body are brand new, and we have never
experienced any hint of mechanical problems. There is no warranty given or implied with the sale of this engine.

Local pick up is preferred, but if you are willing to cover all shipping costs, this engine can be shipped. I won't know actual shipping costs until the engine is crated and prepped for shipping.
