Red face Want to add Cats, will it affect my tune much?

I just had my car tuned but I'm having a problem with the police. They know it doesn't have cats on it, so they are busting me anytime they c me on the street. I want to put cats back on, how bad will this affect my tune.

will probably hurt your power levels. I would get the cats that are *cough "empty" *cough and just have the shells that is if you can

you will probably have to re-tune just to be safe, but your AFR levels and spark shouldn't matter

What i meant is police can not give you a ticket for not having them..they can only give you a fix it ticket if it doesn`t pass inspection if your state requires it.

F650, is a medium duty commerical truck , and falls under different EPA regulations, than say a normal F250, F350 or F450 that all have DOC from the factory if target for the north american market. (export vehicles, do not always have all emissions components, such as no egr, no doc, and no DPF for 2008 model year F450 chassis cabs for example... )

A regular diesel pickup 2008 model year and newer will have a DPF as well.

VA state laws says they have to be on the car if it came from the factory with them. Matter of fact I can't even convert to dual exhaust even with the cats because of the communist laws,...opps commonwealth's laws.

I put the Magna Flow cats on mine and didn't really lose any power or change the tune any. Your O2 sensors are before the cats so it won't scew the tune. They flow great and you will like the way they get rid of the raw fuel smell.

Come on dude, I lived in Roanoke for 24 years. How did they find out? I never once had anyone pop their head under my ride to see if it had cats. You must have some seriously loud exhaust, which they will pull you over for in Salem. But my car was cammed, LT's, ORY, and dumped exhaust and I drove it EVERYDAY all the way from Radford to the Advance Auto Parts in Salem and never once had an issue from the sound police. It probably doesnt help that your car isnt easily forgotten, lol. I'd imagine that a cop would pull you over just to get a better look at that paint job.
