Stock Tach Problem
Hi!
I have a '98 Camaro 113k miles on the clock(but rebuilt) This summer the Stock Tach started to act strange.. some times It just did't work, next day it just flapped upp and down.. And the third day it worked fine. But when it started to act funny gain the SES light came on. I went in with my scaner and had a look at the codes, And i got a code on the tach. (cant remeber what code though ) We deleted it and the Tach started to work. But 10 min later it got all F***d upp again.
Even when the tach was't working the External Shiftlight was working.
Have any of you experienced this? What's the cause? An condenser in the gauge cluster or can it be the PCM?
Thanks Anton

Well if you deleted the code & it came back it could be a PCM issue. Or the cluster is jacked & causeing it to throw the code. I'd buy a extra cluster for cheap & swap it out. If it happens again then you'll know it's PCM related.
I'd say if your external shiftlight is working properly though it's gona be cluster related.

I had a kinda similar issue - mine would work sometimes and then others not, if it didnt work sometimes I would turn it off and restart and then it would be working again..... but when not working it would also take with it everything but the oil pressure and voltage gauges Running HPTuners all the time though so I still had gauges
Replaced the cluster and all have been working since
