Default Maf placed close to throttle body????

I am thinking of making a custom intake for my LS2 GTO and was wondering what the drawbacks are of putting the MAF right off of the throttle body, well maybe a couple inches out. Stock they are right next to the air filter by the fender. I also know there are a couple intakes available that put the MAF right next to the TB. Also some of the F-Body intakes move it right there as well. What/if any drawbacks are there to this.

Bad if you have a large cam, MAF will read airflow reversion and flow will be up the spout, probably even with stock cam.

Best to leave it down the intake more in a straight piece of pipe.

Not a problem with the Abaco Digital Mass Air Meter

Yeah saw those at sema. Two sensors in the MAF which can determine which one of the 2 detects airflow first and can ignore reversion.
