Default diablo doesnt read key on position

First off this is in a 2004 silverado 2500HD 6.0 gasser. I just tried to hook up my diablo unit and it displayed an error to make sure the key was in the on position. of course the key was definatly on. I have had a problem with the DIC displaying "unknown driver" and having a no start problem as well, but only at times. could the two problems be related?

Thanks for any help.

Check you fuses, if the cig lighter fuse is blown, you will not have power to the OBDII port.

That was my first thought too, but the Predator doesn't have an internal power source. If it's powering up to give a message fuse is good.

if you're having problems with your DIC and your ignition with the no-starts you're having, then I would have your ignition key switch checked out...

you have an electrical issue somewhere...

Yeah, sounds like a possible issue with the ignition switch or the column itself. Will the Predator read the calibration IDs or the VIN from the PCM? Show live data when the engine is running?

Any aftermarket radio's (or even worse, aftermarket radio's that tie to the class 2 bus) can be troublesome on these vehicels.

That aftermarket adapter has a flaw where it does not conform to normal shut down requests on the buss. So it keeps talking while you send the shut up commands. That is why most issues happen with comms, while that thing is installed. Pull it out while programming.

I actually can't drive the truck with it installed. the whole guage cluster gets no power 9 times out of 10. I'm loking for a unit that hasn't got this kind of problem. but that is quickly becoming a waste of my time. thanks for all your replys and help.
