Default 2K rpm on the street, Iddle fin after 2 sec when I stop

Here the problem. I can start the car and it iddle fine. I can rev it and it go back to normal. On the road, in all gear the car run at 1.5-2k rpm (if I dont tuch the gas) and when I stop at a stop sing or light, it take 2sec to drop from 2k rpm to arround 800-1K rpm. It do the same thing if I but the car in neutral until I stop.

Car have ben tune whit HP tuner whit true duals, no cats and no X by the other owner. Now it have a Y pipe + hight flow cats (need to pass safty check).

You think I need to retune the car or put back the old exhaust back? (and have alot of ticket). I have no check engine light.

Car is 2001 Trans Am 6spd whit all bolt on (include head and cam)

Thanks

I had the same exact problem. On one of the vacuum hoses there was a hole the size of my pinky finger.

I have a vacuum gauge and it read good. Do you think the gauge do not detect the leak ? I will check that tomorrow. I have nothing to lose and its really annoying.

The exhaust shouldn't have anything to do with it. Look at the tune.

I have read in other posts that the throttle follower and throttle cracker settings are responsible for this. My '71 GMC with a 411 PCM conversion does the same thing, and I am going to play with them settings and see what happens. Makes it really easy to experiment with the roadrunner PCM!!!

Thanks alot Mike. I did a search on throttle cracker and throttle follower and all of them have the same problem as mine or really close. Now I need to find a tuner . In Canada, its hard to find one near me.

Sometimes it is almost cheaper to invest in a tuning software program like EFI Live or HPTuners and learn how to do it yourself than spend the money to have someone else do it!!!

Good luck
Mike
