Default 98PCM to 99+PCM Questions

I'm looking to swap out my PCM to the 99+ I seem to understand the wireing part form my researching on this. But I lack the know how when it comes to the PCM it self. I'v read that there is some creative programing that needs to be done. With the Gas Gague? And that it needs to be done with EFI Live. and HP Tuners Will freak out about a 98 VIN on a new PCM.
IF I have the PCM set up with EFI Live when i have it Dyno tuned down that raod with HP Tuner will that work? or will there be issues and will only be able to tuned with EFI Live?

With efi-live you can take the fuel segment from a 02 chevy express van and flip it (If I remember) and voila your fuel gauge will work. I dont think you can to this with HPT. I have not swaped yet, maybe in the future, i have a harness. For now my 98 pcm does just fine with the 402. A little more screwing around, but it works good.

You can simply send an e-mail to HPTuners support (when you are an HPTuners customer) and include a 2002 F-Body program and a 2002 Express Van program, and ask them to swap over the fuel system segment.

The VIN number WILL be an issue...but the easiest solution, is just leave the 2002 camaro VIN in the PCM, and don't worry about it. Worst case I believe you'd just have to show proof that you bought a replacement computer from a newer vehicle when you go for an OBD2 inspection...EFILive I believe will allow you to tune the 2002 program with your cars 1998 VIN in it.

That said...no reason not to just tune the 98 PCM unless you NEED an enhanced OS.
