Default Is Autotap Locked to a VIN?

Can Autotap be used on more than one vehicle or does the cable get locked to your VIN like the LS1 Edit cable?

My friend has Autotap that he used on his 2000 Tahoe and I wanted to know if we could also use it for my 2000 Z28.

Thanks!

It does not lock. You can use your friend's autotap. you can even install the software on your computer, that way you can just borrow the cable when you need it.
