Why won't edit read?
I've been in contact with carputing about this issue. The simple problem is, I can get a-tap to read but not edit using the same port.
I have the port setting set at none, per Dave
It just won't connect. Any ideas, or is my laptop a POS?
BTW, the problem is between the PC and the module. The module to the PCM (truck) is fine.

Recently bought LS1 Edit. Went to download program from PCM. Wouldn't read. Finally tried different COM Ports. Ended up using COM4 before it would make connection and read. I have a new Dell, no serial, so I am use a USB convertor cable.
Either change COM ports, or possibly your cig lighter fuse is blown.

Like I said, It works fine on a-tap using com1. I don't understand why I would have to change com ports to read. It's serial BTW. I bought a usb adaptor and had no luck. The module has been check out fine by Carputing. What would the cig lighter have to do with anything? It is powering the laptop.

I give up on why different com ports. On Atap com port1. On LS1Edit Com port 4. Both with the same wires, just a different module (Atap vice Edit module).
No idea why.
If your A-tap is working fine, than forget the lighter bit. Does it power the computer? Nope. Does it power the module? I don't know, but I do know that if the fuze is blown than the A-tap will not work - believe me, I ran that little ***-hole down for a week.
