Talking Need help on a custom tune

I own a 98 ram air ws6 trans am, 6 spd. I have installed a volant cold air box and intake. I have also installed a Granatelli MAF. After using a Hypertech tuner for my custom tune i consistently get lean codes in bank 1 and 2 after about 100 miles. Codes are 0171 and 0174. If I put my stock MAF back in I don't get the lean codes. It runs like a ripe date with the Granatelli MAF and custom tune but I don't want to damage my motor. Any ideas? Any and all comments would be appreciated.

its in your tune the hyper tech is set up for stock maf it does not know what to do with the Granatelli so your parameters are out of whack. i would suggest just keep your stock maf and sell the granatelli a stock maf is good to like 450 hp before it becomes a restriction if you insist on keeping the Granatelli then you will have to get it costume tuned and yes if you run your car lean you will mess it up by melting the piston and rings cause lean equals to much heat

Ditch the granatelli and keep the stock MAF. If you really want to keep the granatelli MAF you will need a real tune instead of that handheld junk.

Thanks all for your input. It definitely runs better with the hypertech tune and stock maf, then with the Granatelli and a stock tune. Thanks again.

Most tuners will not touch a car with a Granatelli maf. Had one, sold it.

also isn't the hypertech tune known for having too much timing or being too lean in general?

also check for vacuum leaks after the MAF
