Default Question on a frost tune.

My car runs fine & I am pleased after he tuned it around eight months ago. I need to send the pcm back to him to adjust the speedo b/c I just picked up a new diff w/ 3.42s going from 2.73s (I am so excited). My question is;

Can I reflash the brain before I swap the diff while the car is sitting for the winter? I don't care if the speedo is off until I do the swap.

Can Steve tell how the car is running since the tune and make adjustments if necessary? Thanks everyone.

It wont shift right until you change the gears if you program it first.
But it would still drive, I just wouldn't floor the car until you have it set.

As for the tuning adjustments. When you unplug the computer, it looses all storage it had in ram. The only way to know would be with a scan log.

Wow thanks for that wait, my mechanic is 50 miles away. I guess the plan now will be to r&r it @ his shop. Can I drive that far if I baby it? If I do it after the swap my ride home will be rough I guess? So i will get a fresh tune since the brain was unplugged & the ram is gone? You would think it would have a chip to b/u the info. I have no idea how you plug in and get a scan log.

You don't lose a tune when you unplug it. You can not scan a car without the software to do it. Only thing you lose when you unplug the car is learned fuel trims and such.

OK, I thought he could see how it was running. Thanks.
