Segment swaps are usually done to install an 80e trans into a vehicle originally having a 60e trans. Tuners just swap out the 60e and installing an 80e segment.

The segment that allows the flex input is the engine segment. Other segments in the PCM file are for engine diagnostics and trans, and trans diagnostics, etc. so segment swaps usually are for running different trans.

I have unlimited credits so segment swaps are not needed by me.
I just don't have a vehicle now with a 80e in need of a segment swap.

So I do not see a need for a segment swap. Is there something you see that I don't?

Was just wondering if the "segment" that allows the use of flex fuel on some of these other ogle could be integrated into a fbody os so that it could take advantage of the sensor.

We can use the L59 OS listed on the first page but there there is no 2-3bar SD tuning capability with that OS.. Thats where one of the hang ups is for us. If we could get HPT or someone to support that OS for anything more 1bar we would be in business. If you arent boosted, then this swap will work fine.

I'm being selfish, and confused...

For my 2002 6.0 Lq4, do I need to do a segment swap, or just click something in hptuners to turn on the sensor capability, once I wire it in?

You will essentially just have to turn on the capability in HPT. you may have to load a different OS but if you arent FI like me, its easy.

Yeah I stumbled upon that info a little but ago. Still doesn't help us high hp, 3bar guys but it could very well be useful to a lot of other people!

Im working on a couple other options though, hopefully ill have updates here in a month or however long it takes to get my trans back. If it all works ill be sure to do a writeup.

the OS that has the flexfuel tables we need doesnt support 3bar SD tuning. Its HPtuner's decision. Most people who need 3 bar SD tunes switch over to the fbody OS anyway as they dont utilize the flexfuel function. Now we want the opposite lol

ohhh that sucks... i was wanting to get the tahoe os so i could use the flex fuel feature on my truck, since its na it would be alright, but on my car it would suck since i have a three bar. Is that the only os that has flex fuel feature on the 0411 pcm?

The computer/OS for ls1 GTO's supprts 3 bar flex fuel tuning but its not a direct swap into fbody's. it requires some repinning and wiring.

as far as 0411 pcm goes, yes thats all i know of. could be others though.

pretty neat idea. I'll hunt down a sensor and give it a shot. My swap used a Vin Z pcm and harness so it should all be there.

Thats another problem is the cost of the sensor.... almost 400 for it... i know ford Tauruses had flex fuel sensor with the same connector, but i dont know what kind of data they see compared to what the gm pcm wants the see.

13577394 is the new sensor gm is using, supposed to function exactly the same as the old $400 sensor but only around $100. I'm waiting for one with a pigtail in the mail to add to my 06 silverado. A couple guys I've talked with on HPT are using this sensor with no issues. We shall see
