Default Need A tune.

I have a 1967 c/10. Shift points are a little off I think because the previous owner thought it had 411 rear gears but it has 373. When shifting at fast speeds it hits the rev limiter. 4l60e...5.3 out of an avalanche. Has a cam installed I do not know the spec's.
Or could I buy a h/p tuner and learn to do it myself? I am not sure how difficult it is, must be a bear because so many people pay a great deal for a good tune.
I would like someone who is close that I can go back too after making modifications.
