obd2 port #5 reads 6 volts with key on.
I have a ls motor in my 1996 camaro with 1999+ cpm. I am unable to read it with hptuners through the obd2 port. With key off everything tests ok, but when I put key on and check ground 5, it shows 5-6 volts. This is the pcm ground from what I can tell. So with key on somewhere a wire is leaking to this ground. I assume this is not normal and is the reason I can't read the cpm?

Now to isolate the short.

Did you do the install?
Trace the wire back and see where it goes.
Both the grounds can go to chassis.
The PCM grounds at the engine. Typically at the rear of the drivers side head.
The engine itself needs to be grounded very solidly to the chassis.
Is it a custom harness or a modified stock one?

There is no good place to ground those two grounds to the chassis. That wouldn't change the fact that that ground has a short. I will get the harness pulled out and try to trace where that ground goes.
