Default I think I need a ECM

I jut bought HP Tuners and I can't write to my car it says invalid vin/os. It was tuned by a local guy for stand alone with tuner cats. I'm guessing I need a reflash with a tech 2 or get another ecm. What ecms are capable of running the 24x dbc LS engines? Will the 4 cyl computers work? The local JY has lots of 00-04 gm vehicles.

It can be fixed with tuner cats or efi live if you dont want to get another pcm. If you want a another pcm look for the last three digits of the service number 896 or 411. Either one of those will work for you. I can probably fix it cheaper than you can get another pcm for. PM if you're interested.

I spoke with the guy who put the tune on my car and he is telling me that he will just have to give the ecm a vin number. Is this true?

Why would the VIN be deleted? If the correct VIN for that OS is loaded into the ECM then that should fix the issue with HPT.
