Default 98 pcm swap, need to keep vin

Thinking about doing a pcm swap to a 411 from on 01-02 F Body. Can someone verify some info for me.

I am good with the repining and the physical swap. I need to keep my 98 vin for emissions testing here in NC. I am currently tuned with HP Tuners and my tuner would like to keep it that way.

I have a vin from a donor car so after I do the swap can I copy my current tune over to the new pcm (using hptuners) and after everything is good, can I use efi live to change the vin?

To my knowledge if I want to continue to use hptuners I have to put the donor vin back in and make my changes then pjut my 98 vin back in when done, correct?

Any help on understanding this is appreciated and yes I have read many post about the swap but nothign about keeping the vin and hptuners

Yes that will work. Once you put the 98 vin in with EFI Live you'll have to change it back with EFI Live in order to use HPT again.
