Holley Dominator EFI and emissions
Quick question that i havent had much luck finding a solid answer on. Ive been reading up on the Dominator but was curious for those od us still required to do emissions every other year how would tuning for emissions be handled. It seems like the auto learning ability of the dominator would make an emissions friendly tune impossible. Hopefully there would still be the possibility of the dominator being a solution for me since im on e85 but just want to plan ahead.

are you able to run the holley in conjunction with the stock ecu to where the ecu would still be able to report on obd codes and whatnot but the holley is the brains of the operation? I live in a state that plugs into the obd2 port as well as performs the sniffer and twists the knife in your back with the visual. I found out about the holley dominator in my research for 4l80e controllers and the more i read about it the more i like it but I just worry about what obstacles it'll bring forth w/ emissions.

we have done a few vehicles with a piggy back holley/stock ECU (ford and GM)
...and I will tell you from personal experience... that YES...it is a Big Clusterfuck................
its not that simple....
the tests check for various valid sensor signals as well to make sure that you dont just have a dummy device to pass emissions
the ECU also has to show its in a running state...meaning a valid RPM signal
the combo of the piggy back needed and the wiring involved ...is the challenge
the tune in the stock ECU to pass emissions is super simple after that.
