Default Tuning responsiveness to fuel and spark TR224 car ?

Just curious on other's experience that have done or seen the tuning
themselves. From 24-29 degrees at the top and from 13.5-12 AF, I
make probably within 5-7hp. This is a stock block/head, TR224
with long tube headers... (sig).

Despite the tight range, appeared to make best power fairly rich-low 12s AF and with 28/29 degrees of timing.

I've seen little gain going from 25 to 29-30 at the high rpm range on that setup. The biggest gain is running 24-25 degree's starting at 2000rpm.Give's some great torque down low.
Here is another conclusion I've found on A4 cars. They run 3-4mph faster at the track with only 24-25degree's of timing up top compared to 28-30 Atleast the TR224 cars do.M6's like 28-30 degree's.

VERY much appreciated. I saw small gains going to 28deg, at least on the dyno... but street/racing is the real world and I don't doubt what you say about the A4 vs. M6 ... very strange though. Thanks for the tip on the low rpm.. wouldn't have thought to try that high. What about AF, did you find the cars like to run on the rich side? Also, I always thought you want to run your richest at peak torque and then lean a bit, but my last dyno guy said the opposite. I'll post a little more detail of my exact dyno differences later.

Also, anyone think the car wanting to run very rich has something to
say about spark plug gap .. or heat range ?

After restudying my dyon runs, It appears that I made peak
power closer to 12.9 AF.. though the difference from
the richer run is about 1.5hp.
