Default LQ4 Tuning, no knock sensors?

how would I tune timing with no knock sensors? Is there a stand alone system that is somewhat cheap i can buy? engine is in a 90 mustang

You can run a GM PCM with no knock sensors. Just turn the KS codes off. Then you tune by listening for knock rather than the scanner showing it. Not sure why you would want to though.

the engine does not have knock senors in it right now, and I don't know if the harness has the plugs for it

Question Maybe..

start by looking to see if the harness has the plug[s]??

On a load bearing dyno would be the best way.
