Default Temperature Sender

So my idle has been really high (2400-3000rpms) I checked for codes and got code P0118 and my coolant temperature wouldn't change from -38.2F. Replaced the temperature sending unit same code same coolant temperature.
Checked voltage at the plug and...

both sides of the plug read 5volts. Is that normal? I know one side is supposed to be but i don't know if both sides should.

Also further up from the plug theres this junction...



Is that normal? I'm completely stumped any help would be awesome thank you
