Default High altitude Idle/MAP out of range problem

Here's the problem the 97 LS1 motor and the 99 LS1 computer doesn't like to idle when I go from 8000ft to 13,500. Ouray to Telluride by way of Black Bear Pass. 12,800 is fine, Eng pass. Just if I go over 13k the check engine light comes on and it has a Big problem Idleing. As soon as i'm into town and I clear it with 3 starts It's fine. The 3 and 4 point switch backs are hell when I'm trying to keep the motor running and keep it on the trail.

Here's another question... I was wondering if GM ever did a MAP sensor change on the later modles to fix a High altitude problem.

Thanks
Larry
