Running boost on a 1 bar MAP sensor

Running boost on a 1 bar MAP sensor I'm about to buiild a custom turbo setup and a friend brought a possible problem to my attention. He says that the LS1 PCM is set up with a 1 bar MAP sensor and that the PCM isn't set up to handle a 2 or 3 bar MAP sensor. What is the proper way to fix this problem?
