The car has been sitting since october. I keep a battery tender on it to keep the battery up. I started it today and it wasn't running right and through a code for the tps. I pulled it off and played with and the cars idle went up to 2k and sat there. before it would idle and surge. I just want to know if the tps is bad.

That would be my guess. Run the codes and see what it says. If you can't run the codes, buy a TPS sensor and put it on. It definitely won't hurt anything.
