Default Got my HP Tuners today and have one question

This may be a stupid question but this is the first time I have ever seen HP Tuners. After I have read my vcm and saved it, I then go into the editor to make changes...my question is this:when I open the .bin file that I created I get a popup that says "Flash file info" and in that window it says "Vin:Unkown". Is that normal or do I have a problem? When I read the vcm it shows the vin but in this popup it says that it is unknown.

That is normal for 98's.

The 98 vehicles do not store the VIN's in the flash file like the 99+ V8 vehicles.

No worries!

Also, the only numbers I show with checksums or anything is for the operating system. Nothing else has number beside it. I scanned my truck and it has number for all of the different categories. What is up with that?

I just read the post right above this one. So I can make tranny changes and so on and it will work right? Thanks alot for the quick response

The 98 PCM's in general store less vehicle specific information in them than the 99+'s.. you're fine..

You can make transmission changes. As far as changing the transmission from a manual to an automatic and such, its ideal to reprogram the entire PCM with a file that already has support for the desired transmission.
