LS1Edit and I believe HP Tuners(the company not the software) can go in and modify your OS if you decided to do a 4L60E to a 80E swap. If they can do that I bet they can reconfigure your pcm to read a 58x wheel.

This would be possible only if the signal from the reluctor wheel (a serial bitstream) is entirely decoded in software. My guess is that the reluctor signal is at least partially decoded to crank angle by hardware.
