a rent on a hypertech wouldn't work...the programmer mates to the car it programs (stores the car's stock program in flash memory within the programmer). when you power the unit up, it checks if it has a program in its memory. if it does you cannot use it on another vehicle. the only way to reuse a hypertech on a different vehicle is to take the tune out of the original vehicle (the unit dumps the stock tune back to that vehicle)....also the v8 program on a v6 thing won't work either as the tuning is much, much different. they are both obd2-compatible but the onboard diagnostics is where the similarities end; tuning is a completely different animal. the whole architecture of the hpp3 is set up so you can't share your tune with your friends.

sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
