Default LS1 Edit vs Auto Tap

What is the differance between the two? If i buy the LS1 Edit will it only do LS1's or can i do all OBDII computers? Will Auto Tap do all OBDII computers?

LS1 Edit = Modifying PCM (and as of late they provide af ree scanner, but I don't think it compares w/autotap at this point)

Autotap = OBDII Data scanner, you can't make permanent changes to your PCM, only log what's going on.

To Tune a car you need a scanner and a tuner

LS1 Edit tuner will only tune the car you use it on the first time (first write it is locked to that PCM) ...

There are much better solutions out now though...

www.hptuners.com
www.efilive.com

Both offer excellent tuning software and include top notch scanning software , and both have options for attaching external sensors to the cable to monitor (such as wideband, EGT, etc...)

LS1 Edit only works on LS1 based PCMs ... HP Tuners is the only solution right now that offers tuning on both Gen III V8 based and other platforms (such as V6's, and LS2s)

For more informatino about each individual product consult the sticky (best LS1 Tuning software?) and the manufacturer web sites

you can do it w/any tuning software, but HP Tuners and EFI Live are the best bangs for the buck now

Get EFILive or HPTuner. Stay away from LS1Edit.

Not much more than LS1Edit. Check out www.efilive.com. They have software updates for life. LS1Edit is like $100 each update.

www.hptuners.com
www.efilive.com

Each lists their pricing models and licensing models ...

Expensive is a relative term .... so best to look at each product's pricing "straight from the horses mouth" so to speak

keep in mind that a wideband O2 sensor is also something you'll want to look at for self tuning (possible to get the car in the ballpark w/out it... or if you have a good deal w/a dyno w/wideband) ... these range from 200 (LC-1) to 500 or so ...
