1992 RS Speed Sensor.. HELP HELP!!!!
I am in real trouble here. I replaced the rear 2.73 gears with 3.73 gears. I also swapped the tires. They used to be 235/55-16 and now they are 275/40ZR-17.
Until I did the rear end upgrade the speedo may have ben off +/-2 MPH. Now I am off so far that the govenor in the ECU kicks in. At about 2500 RPM my speedo reads 95MPH (Not passing anybody)
Does this car use an Electronic Vehicle Speed Sensor to send a signal to the speedo?
What sensor do I need to buy?
I called GM and there are 3 sensors for this car which are not indexed by application. I can give them the numbers from mine to eliminate the one I do not need. That still leaves 2 sensors to choose from.
The car has a 305TBI and a TH700R4 transmission.
I really need to know how to fix this. Shops around here cannot fix this issue. HELP!!!!

That car has a VSS sensor on the trans output. You can interchange the drive and driven gears to come up with the proper ratio for you gears. Check out www.thirdgen.org for more information on those gears and how to swap them out. It will not cost you an arm and a leg, they are about $10 or so.
