Look into your manual. It needs to be reseted. Throw a search about oil light reset.

Default Oil light

On my 2002 you hold in the odometer rest for 12 seconds. I forget if the oil change or service engine light flashes. But it will flash a few times and then the oil change will be reset.

Turn the key to run, don't start the car - Press and hold the trip/oil reset button until it flashes and goes off...if you don't want to reset the trip miles turn the key to run, depress the gas pedal 3 or 4 times.

I've tried that method, but didn't get the "Change Engine Oil" light to flash, showing reset. The Trip/Oil one does work.

The light won't flash when you use the pedal, at least on a 2000. It just will go off. Also you need to turn the key on and pump the pedal 3 times immediately while it's still "booting up". Has always worked for me.
