Which tables are referenced during SD mode?
I put my PCM into SD mode by changed the MAF fail freq to 0. From my understanding the Low octane table is used during a MAF failure, so it should be used in SD mode.
What about the Primary and Secondary VE tables? To you revert to the Secondary VE table in SD mode when triggered by a MAF fail?
Are there any other significant parameter changes accompanied by SD mode, i.e. MAF fail?

What model year cars have the Secondary VE?
Most posts refrence only 98's but my 2000 stock reading has a secondary VE table.
I have been logging and flashing like crazy over the past weeks only to find out now that modifying the primary VE after failing the MAF has been a waste of time.
Can anyone clarify what model years have the secondary table?

If I did this, would I still be able to tune with my 99 hptuners cable?
Thanks!

not much advantage, you can still tune a secondary VE plenty fine, the resolution lacks, but interpolation makes up for it. I would say it's mainly for esae of tuning. You can always switch to an 01-02 program (as long as you have the support for the year on your cable), just be sure to reinput whatever 98-00 unique parameters there are

Ease of tuning, exactly.
On occasion I have found some oddities in 2000 files that would not go away with tuning, after switching to a 2002 file the problem disappeared.
99whitews6, In order to change over the file using Hp tuners, you'd need to own a license to your vehicles year, and the year you wish to upgrade to.

I have a 2000 with no secondary VE table.
I upgraded to the 1 BAR MAP SD tune from HP tuners. Software is only licenced for a 2000 car.
Its one less table to worry about when tuning in SD mode.
