I am curious to know this question as well. Will a 01 02 ECU be a direct plug and play for the 98? What needs to be modifed?

Mileage is unaffected by the PCM

98 PCMs are the red headed step child of the LS1 world.... 99+ PCMs will not work w/them w/out rewiring the car and repinning the connectors

We did it on Jen's race car. It is a 1998 Z28 with a 2001 Calibration. The gauge cluster does not work, for reason's Mike (Horist) posted. But our is a race car, so we don't care about the gauge cluster. I am not sure if the search will work, but it was discussed here a couple of weeks (possibly months) ago.

You would have to either get a new wiring harness or pop out the pins on the harness and reorder them as well as add in some new. It would suck but you could do it.

I would suggest getting a new GM harness and stripping out the car if it was my car. You would even have to remove the entire dash. A lot of work, a lot of time but it will be done right and you can be proud at that.

I started comparing the harness pinouts from the Conversion forum earlier this morning as I was considering it as well. I figured it would be a small task to re-pin the stock PCM harness.

There's a lot of wiring differences I saw just in the first red connectors. Enough difference that I'd rather just keep using a MAF than deal with half resolution SD, or go through the work to swap to a newer PCM.

So what all has to be changed? If I buy a 2000 PCM and engine harness, do i need to change some sensors and that is it? Or am i going to have to change the underdash harness and guage cluster and everyhtihng else also? I am wanting to go with a 3 bar SD tune in my 98 Z28, but am not really wanting to lose the resoultion or spend the $2800 for BS3.
