Default Why rich a/f

Hi

Just woundering why an LS1 will go rich after headers/intake? It seems that it should be lean.

My 98 Camaro seems to run fine after installing Mac header, Mac y pipe, Borla and K&N induction. It does crackle/pop on decel under 4000 rpm. Does this indicate rich or lean?

Any input appreicated

Thanks JA

If it crackles/pops that could be a indication of DFCO.

Could also be excess fuel lighting off in the exhuast pipes.

Pops on decel are very often from exhaust leaks combined with some fuel in the exhaust.

To answer the first question, YES it does go lean at certain RPMs, and the closed-loop learning routine quickly corrects for this by applying positive fuel trims. These positive trims then in turn will make you rich in some areas, including sometimes WOT.

Hi

Thanks for the input from everyone.

DFCO: I assume this is a fuel cutoff setting. Can it be set in HP tuners or EFI Live. Chad I wish I lived in your area. I would come in for a tune.

I do have a very small leak between the y pipe and the main cat back pipe. I will look into it.

Is there anyting that would indicate excess lean, without having a wideband. I plan to get a tune, but I need to find someone in my area. It may take a while.

Thanks JA

Deceleration Fuel Cut Off. Both programs have this setting. Are you in OL or CL with or without MAF?

Hi

With MAF

I assume at around 3000 rpm and partial throttle it is CL.
