Default SD AutoVE and then swith back to MAF?

I read a comment somewhere that it's pointless to do the SD Autotune if I'm not going to stay SD. Is this true? I'd prefer to run the MAF since I'm new and it seems like the safest, self adapting, stockish way.
I am trying to get my hotcam to have stock-like manners, increase gas mileage, and more power.

no. you need your VE table dialed in perfect so you can dial in your MAF

Your VE needs to be layed over the MAF. Get the VE spot on and then go on to the MAF and get it done.
