Default SES but no code

I have a 02 WS6 A4 with 35500 mi. The SES light came on two weeks ago and went off 2 or 3 days later. While it was on I had Auto zone check it but it would not communicate with the scann tool. I had another small shop check it and he said it was the temp coolant sensor (I had my doubts). Another shop checked it with a Snap on machine and it wouldn't communicate with it either.

Fast foward to yesterday. I pulled up to a red light and when I started off the car hicuped and the SES light came on again. This time I went to the dealership and had it checked and guess what. The car wouldn't communicate with TWO of there scan tools. Any ideas?

Yep. The "CIG/ACCY" fuse is blown - also powers the DLC under the dash. Dealership should know that, hope they didn't charge you. Check it to be sure.

They didn't. The fuse was blown. The codes said Mass air flow and coolant temp senser. Should I have gotten the actual number code to know what this means? Does the 02 WS6 have a screen in the MAF? Mine doesn't.

Really need the actual codes. Make sure the ECT sensor is plugged in tight - it's the brass sensor next to cyl #1 in the head near the exhaust. The MAF should have a screen in it. Some people remove it and don't have problems, but others do - I wouldn't remove mine. Wait for the light to come back on and have auto zone read them again, don't worry about the description - just post the codes.

Thanks for the help. I'll try to get back to Auto Zone this week and get the actual codes.
