Default HP tuners, ETC, and big cam idling

I am using HP tuners on an 05 vette wtih a 402 stroker and TSP giant cam. I have the idle all lined out everywhere but initial startup....you have to give it a little throttle, but once its started, its fine. I cant find any tables that show something like initial startup blade angle or anything. I would like to avoid drilling the TB if possible. is drilling the only way? Thanks

Does it do this only when cold starting? It might not be because of air flow.

I've been reading a lot on this, yet to actually tune but I believe there's a cold start-up parameter or table that makes the car run rich on cold startup. The reason for this is to provide as much fuel to be vaporized as possible. Since the engine is cold, the fuel doesn't vaporize as much and needs extra injected to make sure every air molecule has fuel near it. Hope this helps!

Ok, I might be wrong, check this out:

http://www.hptuners.com/help/

on the contents on the left go:

"WORKING WITH VCM EDITOR"
"PARAMETERS - GM"
"ENGINE"
"IDLE"
SCROLL DOWN TO "STARTUP"

Also, under "FUEL CONTROL"
"GENERAL"
SCROLL TO "AFTERSTART ENRICHMENT"

maybe that will help? good luck!

thanks for the info, i was reading on the HP tuners forum and found a few ideas, just didnt know if anyone had it nailed yet.

The startup problem happens on both cold and hot startup.

I was experiencing the same problem, my fix was found in the desired air flow at idle table, and adjusting my ve table correctly in the idle range. Also make sure the tb blade is open enough for the iac counts to be in the 50-70 range.

Look into adjusting the Open Loop Fuel Adder table.
