Default HPT or EFILive? No dyno capability

I'm having a horrible time making a decision. I need to tweak my tune for a decent shot of spray. I live in Anchorage, AK and do not have a dyno accessible. So, I would like to know what would be more "user friendly" and less dyno dependant for a quality tune. I have a wideband, so I should be able to log. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The nice thing about EFILive is you can use a custom OS to compensate for the Nitrous. This way you can have one tune for motor and one for nitrous. This is only if you are using a 99+ OS. I feel that EFIlive is a little easier to use and you also have the benefit of calling one of the resellers if you ever get stuck and have a question.

Most of our Custom operating systems include Real Time Tuning Free of Charge! And will allow you to adjust everything from Idle, fuel, spark, knock retard parameters, o2 sensor parameters, etc. all in real time making things much easier to get ideal numbers.

Very Satisfied EFI Live user here.

EFI Live has a demo mode you can download the program, and open up some of the tunes that come with it, see if you can work your way around it. Use the tune nearest to your car and try and do the VE tutorial. You cant save anything or tune with it without the cable, but you can see if you have the attention span and desire to learn tuning.

Black02SS has been great to deal with, I started with just scan and upgraded to V1 Commercial, I decided to get V2 last week...in fact, the V2 should be here tommorrow .

The EFILive Custom Nitrous operating system is pretty awsome. I have used it in a lot of cars.

We have ~20 Flash Demos as shown here

http://www.hptuners.com/help/getting_started_demos.htm

But as for a full downloadable demo, not as of yet.

So, I guess I should have said that I've got a 98. Sorry. What would I have to do to run the Nitrous O.S. on EFILive? Or is it even possible. I have lots of questions, I guess because my tuning experience is limited to the Stone Age TunerCat.

I am not saying HP Tuners doesn't have this. They might or might now. But, with EFILive you can change your spark timing and tune your idle with live controls and then go back and flash the changes back into the computer.

Tuning on the dyno in speed hold mode is a dream.

If you have a 98, then there is not a specific Nitrous OS for EFILive. It is only for the 99+ operating systems. One thing you will receive is unilimited 98 support. With this you can tune your vehicle and never use a license. This will help the resale value if you ever decide in the future to sell the cable because you don't have to use a license that comes with the interface. You will have a interface with (2) extra vin licenses for OTHER vehicles.

That is a pretty good selling point. So if I have a buddy with EFI Live can he tune my 98 without purchasing a new liscense?

That is 100% correct. You can tune your 98 ls1 without using up any licenses.
