Default How much Knock Retard is accaptable

Should I just keep hunting it down until it is all gone? Or is some acceptable?

Where are you seeing it? Have you done anything to combat the '98s poor knock sensor reputation?

More of a general question really.....I desensetized the knock sensors a bit.

Ideally, you don't want any KR. In application, you may see some every once in a while. Personally, I take the 'more often than not' approach. If it happens more often than not for a given load/rpm, then chances are timing is too high. For example, I have my WOT timing at peak torque set to 26*. It doesn't show KR more often than not...so, I leave it. But, I will occasionally (1 out of 20 times) see KR there - especially on the warmer days.

That was pretty much what I thought....and pretty much how I am approaching it. Thanks.

0 KR is acceptable.

Sometimes you can get false KR from driveline/Cams ect but you need to know it is from that.I've seen FI motor's blow ring lands with only .5KR before.
