Default Problem reading my car's VIN

I recently had a catback installed on our 05 CTS-V and was going to have it tuned to remove skip shift and torque management etc.. , but when my tuner linked the laptop to it, it came back with an error saying invalid VIN, and it would not pick the VIN # up. And therefore wouldnt let us proceed

As far as i know, it is the original PCM. what's going on here?

Alot of ctsvs i have seen have not had a vin number in the original pcm. The only time i have seen the pcm with the vin is if the car had been in for warrenty work or updates.

If that is the case just have your local dealership flash in the newest update with your Vin number.
