Default Dead coolant gauge

I posted this in the electronics forum and really didn't receive any help, so I'll try here.

Basically my coolant gauge went out a few days back. Would it be smarter to fix it or buy some sort of display/monitoring device that will show me the coolant temp. as I drive?

Check the ECT sensor/connector/wiring in the head by #1. If you decide to replace it (relatively cheap) make sure you get one for a '98. The '98 gauge actually works unlike the '99 and up, so I'd fix it.
