Default ATAP start-up question

Just got ATAP and having trouble connecting to Vehicle.
These are my steps, let me know where I am going wrong:
1) turn car ON
2) plug wire into car
3) plug wire into back of computer
4) turn on PC
5) double click ATAP icon
6) click on "Click Here to Connect"

continue to get "No Communication With Vehicle"

Let me know what steps you guys are following when starting up.

Thanks

when you get that message, unplug the cable from the OBD port, plug it back in, wait 5 seconds, and then try connecting again. I noticed with the new version 2.04 it makes you reconnect the cable sometimes. Just a thought.

Not that this is definitely the problem but this is what worked for me. If you used the Atap program off of the CD that came with the cable try re-installing the program with the downloadable version off of the Atap site. I couldn't get a connection to save my life using the CD version, but as soon as I downloaded the latest version viola! It connected the first time and ever since. Hope this helps.
