Will unplugging the EGR on a 99 make the car run bad?
A freinds 99 is running erraticallly because he unplugged the egr but left it on the car. Should it be doing this? We put headers on the car and the fitting on the headers for the egr wouldnt work so we left the egr tube unbolted from the header. It is still connected at the intake and the egr pump is still mounted but unplugged.
whats happining? help!

Unplugging the EGR will create no drivability problems, unless you created a vacuum leak somehow. When you say "unplugged" do you just mean the electrical connector or did you pull some of the piping?

I thaught that I unplugged mine before and it wouldn't crank but I just walked outside and tried it and it cranked and seemed to have ran fine. I'm not sure what your problem could be dude.
If the EGR is unplugged could it harm the performance of the car any? If not I am gunna go ahead and unplugg mine and take it and the air off and just delete them both with ls1 edit when I get it.

Mark, we left the electrical connection to the egr unplugged, and because the fitting on the header didnt quite match up and we didnt have the tools handy to modify it and make it fit, we just did not connect the tube to the header. It is just basically dangling there. (well its zip tied ) I didnt think at the time that there could be a vaccum leak that would go thru the egr pump and to the intake, but it could be?
We will mess with it again tomarro.
dam egr equipped cars...

The egr does not hurt the WOT performance. Leave it plugged in. You'll get better gas mileage and a cooler running engine in the city.

get this...
it was the passenger coil pack that was unplugged. I dont know how the hell we forgot that. I cant even believe the car ran. I feel like an idiot but i guess we all make mistakes. And the egr is still unhooked fromt he header and unplugged. (still in the intake though)
