Mine ran rich till I tuned it with EDIT

From what I understand the longer duration Cam keeps both valves open longer at the same time. Allowing raw gas to pass through the exhaust.

Yep, that's what's happening, you're not alone. If you look around you will see there have been several threads on this lately. I fixed mine my scaling down the VE and the Open Loop mixture. Are you going to be tuning it yourself?

When somebody mentions scaling down the VE, are they referring to the crank VE or main VE tables (or both)?

TIA -

It would just be the Main VE Below 1200

yump..mine's doing it too. Just installed the TR224 and it's pretty bad. It's called cam surge and will happen until your car is tuned. It's very noticeable since you have a stock T/C (like me). Higher stall T/C wouldn't jerk the car that hard, but the engine would still surge up and down.

Thanks !

My gasket's/head bolts are being delivered today, so I'll be able to finish up my 5.3L Patriot S2 Heads / TR 224 cam install this weekend. After that...it'll be tuning, tuning and more tuning!!!
